I am Dr Katherine Spinks, I am a chest physician specialising in interstitial lung disease. I trained in London and then the Wessex region and was a consultant at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portmouth for seven years before moving in 2015 to a new post based at The Lymington New Forest Hospital but also working with the ILD team at University Hospital Southampton.
I set up WILD with Dr Sophie Fletcher and our two nurse specialists, Vanessa Titmuss and Sarah Quarrell and I try and come to as many of the meetings as I can.
I run respiratory clinics at Romsey, Hythe, Lymington and Southampton General Hospitals and look after inpatients in Lymington Hospital. I have also worked with the British Lung Foundation to produce some of the patient information leaflets you may read and am involved with some of the clinical research at Southampton. I organise regional educational meetings for doctors and nurses who look after patients with all forms of ILD around our region to try and improve and equalise care that patients receive. I am contactable either via the secretaries at Lymington or UHS or via Sarah Quarrell.
